Live Edge Slab WV1397-11 is a fabulous, Single Red Elm with organic visual interest, and yet entirely practical for seating 6 more than comfortably. The “Y” shape on the left, called a “crotch”, is due to massive branches splitting from the main trunk. The result is the delightful feather pattern on the left end. These are sensational in smaller spaces as they provide visual interest and practical seating for 6. Once fully finished this slab will have a lighter, yet warmer tone, a slightly reddish light brown in color.
Small cracks will be filled with clear epoxy for a defect-free surface, which can also be made a lovely feature with the intentionality of a surface butterfly inlay. Additionally, the edges can be softly sculpted for a more rectilinear shape.
